The Original Model Call Class
What you'll get:
Model calls can be a useful tool for getting clients in the door. Whether you’re portfolio building and need subjects to in front of your camera, itching to try a new creative technique without the pressure of pleasing a paying client, or having a painfully slow month and need to fill your schedule ASAP, model calls can be a good (and easy!) source of work. And when done correctly, they can also result in great sales, returning clients, and referrals, too!
Through this class, I’m going to show you my model call process which has ALWAYS resulted in an additional sale, typically in the $1000 to $2000 range.
WHAT IS A MODEL CALL?
A model call is simply a search for a subject who fits a role that you need fulfilled. Think of it as an advertisement for a job. Typically, a model is compensated with pay, a trade, or an alternative, like products.
WHO SHOULD USE MODEL CALLS?
Anyone at any point in their business can benefit from model calls. You can portfolio build, hold creative sessions, create new marketing content, or use them when you’re having a slow month.
HOW CAN WE AVOID PROBLEMS WITH MODEL CALLS?
Problem arise when you don’t have a clear plan to follow. So it’s important to have a structured process with clear objectives and direction. It’s also important that you communicate with your prospective client about what is and is not included in your offer, and be very clear about pricing for additional products that they may want to purchase during their ordering appointment. Finally, it’s crucial that you remain subjective and understand that you can (and should!) be selective about who you accept as your model call client.
USING MODEL CALLS AS A MARKETING TACTIC
It’s ok to use model calls when you need them, but it’s important to understand that model call clients are not usually your target market. You should NOT rely on model calls as a year-round, constant marketing tactic or as your sole source of acquiring new clients. The main reason for this is that model clients are usually not your target market and while they usually do make an investment, it’s typically much lower than a normal sale. You’re working just as hard and spending the same amount of time for much less pay, and no one wants to do that! Your marketing efforts should be diverse and should target your ideal client group so that you can build a good client base with customers who will make decent investments.
